ABOUT ARTHUR BYRNE RESERVE

Arthur Byrne Reserve, Maroubra is a large beachside park located directly adjacent to Maroubra beach.  It has many grassed areas screened by native trees and shrubs, making it an ideal location for a barbecue or picnic. Larger and more open areas are used for kite flying, informal ball sports, walking and jogging. Park facilities include picnic shelters, barbecues, bubblers, beach access and toilets and change rooms in the SLSC.

The Maroubra Skate Park is located within the reserve. There is also a free outdoor gym which contains a wide range of strength and cardio equipment. Alcohol is prohibited at Arthur Byrne Reserve from sunset to sunrise. Public toilets are located on the Maroubra Beach promenade.

CARDIOMAX

Improve your heart and lung fitness with our high intensity interval training using circuits, sprints, relays, intervals, speed and agility drills, hill and stair training, battleropes, medicine balls and bodyweight.

CardioMax Beach

Capitalize on the beauty of Maroubra beach and the strength-enhancing workout that running on sand provides. Beach running—especially on dry, loose sand—strengthens your arches, ankles and other below-the-knee muscles more than on harder surfaces. Running on sand consumes more energy than running on asphalt, burning as many as 1.6 more calories per mile. There’s also much less impact force when you run on sand. I dare you to give it a go!

Cardio Boxing

Learn the punching and kicking techniques that shred professional boxers and kickboxers. You’ll get fighting fit with our non-contact cardio-resistance program where your heart rate will soar as you combine punching combos with bodyweight conditioning to improve your overall toning.

Strength and Tone

Get strong and toned as our resistance training creates lean muscle tissue to sculpt some shape and improve your functional strength. Using a range of functional fitness strength tools such as powerbags, kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX suspension systems, bodyweight, medicine balls, slam balls, dead balls and more.

GETTING THERE

The meeting point for The Outdoor Squad Bootcamp Maroubra is in the large open grassed area next to Maroubra’s skate park. During wet weather we train underneath the blue Surf Lifesaving building directly opposite the car park.
